25 years ago today: They Might Be Giants first album is released!
On Bar/None Records out of Hoboken New Jersey Tom Pendergast and Glenn Morrow roll the dice on the Brooklyn duo who were wowing dozens on the Lower East Side performance art scene. The album would go on to sell hundreds of thousands of copies and launch a series of breakthrough videos, shot on film and directed by a very inspired young man named Adam Bernstein. Their energized tone combined the manic power of a Hard Days Night with an art school sensibility, and for a brief moment MTV was transformed into a far more interesting place.
